"T" on Tuesday - Travel to Florence!
I know it's not Tuesday, but I know I'm not going to have time tomorrow to write about our trip to Florence. It's warm! Sunny! Relaxing! Bet you're thinking I took a trip to Italy, huh? Actually, it's Florence, Oregon, a quaint little town along the Oregon Coast. The founding fathers called it Florence because they were trying to make it look like a little Italian village. Since I haven't been to Italy yet I wouldn't know. The original Florentine-like village is now what is called "Old Town" which was built right along the Siltcoos River. Steam ships of all kinds used to come up the river from the ocean to deliver the days catch, supplies, new merchandise, and people. A bridge, designed in the Art Deco style, now spans the river and ships are rarely seen in the waters. The bridge was built during the Depression by CCC and has seen better days. I didn't have my camera this time but there is a lot to share about this wonderful community. Hubby and I are blessed to be able to come here often. Click here to find out information about a nice, relaxing place to stay while visiting the coast.
